Magistrate Mellon is a native of New York City but has been a central Ohio resident for over 35 years. He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1977 and has operated his law practice in Columbus since 1982. He has one son who is a patent examiner with the United States Patent Office in Washington, D.C.
Howard has served as Magistrate in Commercial Point since 2002 and also serves as Magistrate in several other communities in central Ohio. He has an extensive background in criminal justice and law enforcement matters and has also served as a Police Academy Instructor in Ohio.
As Village Magistrate, Howard is entitled to hear and determine prosecutions and criminal causes that are within the jurisdiction of the mayor’s court. The Village Magistrate is appointed by the Mayor.
